At Able Engineering, we are proud to offer a prestigious five-year Tradesperson Apprentice Scheme, designed for individuals who are committed to excellence and have an unwavering work ethic. Our programme is highly selective, with only a hand full of new apprentices taken on each year. This ensures that we can dedicate the necessary time and resources to cultivate the highest level of skill and practical knowledge in our apprentices. While we provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience, we seek candidates who bring the right attitude and a genuine desire to forge a brighter future for themselves through hard work and dedication.
Earn While You Learn: Achieve Practical Skills and an NVQ Level 3
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will not only gain invaluable practical experience but also achieve an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Welding and Fabrication. Excellent Earning Potential
From day one, you’ll be earning while you learn. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive five pay increases as you achieve key skill targets. Typical pay increases are below.
Skill Target 1: 25%
Skill Target 2: 25%
Skill Target 3: 25%
Skill Target 4: 25%
Skill Target 5: 13%
Upon completing your apprenticeship, you’ll be well-positioned for excellent earning potential, with our fully skilled tradespeople earning the best rates in the area. This ensures that not only are you gaining valuable skills, but you're also setting yourself up for a prosperous career.
APPRENTICESHIP STRUCTURE
Our apprenticeship spans five years, meticulously structured to develop your expertise from the ground up. In the first three years, you'll immerse yourself in workshop-based skills, mastering the art of fabricating engineering marvels from stainless steel and turning client visions into reality. Concurrently, you'll attend college one day a week to complete your NVQ Level 3 qualification, seamlessly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
In the final two years of your apprenticeship, having achieved your NVQ Level 3, you'll transition to on-site work, where you'll continue to expand your skill set with real-world applications. Throughout the programme, your progress will be assessed regularly, and you'll receive skill-based pay rises as you reach key milestones, ensuring your dedication and growth are rewarded.

Applications are typically reviewed in February each year, followed by an interview process for candidates who pass the initial screening. However, we accept applications all year round, so feel free to get ahead of the game and submit your application at any time. WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER I APPLY?
Once you have submitted your CV and cover letter, here’s what you can expect:
Confirmation Email: You will receive an email from our office team confirming receipt of your submission within a few days.
Application Review: We review all applications in February each year.
Interview Invitation: Successful stage one candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview.
Aptitude Test: The interview process includes a test covering general knowledge with a maths and engineering bias.
Senior Team Interview: This is followed by an interview with our senior team.
Work Experience: If you pass the interview stage, you may be asked to complete a week of work experience.
Flexible Scheduling: We will ensure the work experience timing fits around your high school study and exam schedule.
Formal Offer: If you are successful in the interview and work experience, and feel the apprenticeship is the right fit, you will receive a formal offer letter.
Contract and Induction: After accepting the offer, you will receive a formal contract for your review and signature.
College Course Applications: Able Engineering will handle your college course applications.
Induction Details: We will provide all details regarding your college and Able Engineering inductions and start dates.
